Lukoil closes sale of Isab refinery on Sicily to G.O.I. Energy
MOSCOW, May 4 (PRIME) -- Russian oil major Lukoil has closed the sale of its Isab refinery on Sicily to G.O.I. Energy, the company said in a statement on Thursday.
“Lukoil notifies that Litasco S.A, 100% subsidiary of Lukoil, and G.O.I. Energy S.r.l. completed the sale of Isab S.r.l. to G.O.I. Energy after fulfillment of certain conditions precedent including receipt of necessary approvals from the Italian authorities,” the oil major said.
Litasco S.A. signed the deal to sell the refinery in January. It was to be closed until March 31, but the Financial Times reported on April 8 citing sources that the U.S. had expressed concern about the deal, and G.O.I. Energy was accused of being financed or otherwise affiliated with Russia. As a result, the Italian authorities had to revise the deal.
